  • Cycling Club

City Tattersalls Cycling Club. Formed by a group of nine friends and Club Members, the Sub-Club is looking for Members to get involved and join them on their rides through some of the most breathtaking areas of NSW – and beyond.

The group start at the same point and finish together, but in between, the route may differ, ensuring that everyone involved rides within their comfort level and ability. The Sub-Club is keen on expanding exponentially, and are inviting both men and women to join up. The best part? You don’t need to be a member of the Fitness Centres to get involved.

The Club is planning to run quarterly orientation sessions that will cover everything from basic riding techniques, riding in a peloton, equipment choices, changing tyres, as well as nutrition and hydration. New starters will hone their skills on easy, flat terrain before the open rides begin. Even for the more experienced riders, safety is paramount – so the group opts for national parks, where there is reduced traffic, the air is clean and the scenery is peerless.

So, what makes the perfect ride? It couldn’t be simpler, says member Glenn “The company, the weather, location, and great coffee afterwards – and don’t forget a good rest and nutrition the night before!”

You can contact the City Tattersalls Cycling Club on 0402 188 999, via citytattscycling@gmail.com, or simply check out their Facebook page facebook.com/citytattscycling.

  • Harriers Club

The City Tattersalls Harriers Running and Walking Group assembles rain, hail or shine every Sunday morning in Centennial Park (corner of Oxford Street and York Road, opposite the bus terminal) at 8.00am.

I am Charles Anscombe and I am the current group leader. Why I say current leader is because the Harriers have been meeting at the same spot each Sunday for well over forty years. We have a group to suit everybody – a walking group, also slow medium and fast running groups. We encourage families and individuals to come along and explore the bi-ways and back streets of the older parts of our city as well as the eastern beaches and harbour foreshores.

This can be treated as purely a social experience or a tough demanding ‘hit out’ whichever you prefer. After the initial warm-up we split into our preferred groups and off we go. We always meet up once or twice during the course of the run, this enables people to change into another group. If one of the runners want to move up a group for one of the sections they can and when we meet again they have the choice to stay or move back to their original group.

If you feel like getting fitter and having a great social experience at the same time, just turn up at Centennial Park, the run commences promptly at 8.10am. We regularly have around sixty people on the run, often more, but do not worry if there is no one in sight at 8.00am as they all converge just before start time.

If you would like to know more you can contact the Harriers Club President: Charles Anscombe, 0418 209 888
