Patrick Campion, Chairman’s Message August 2015


The first half of the year’s trading has been solid, especially in Gaming. However, food, beverage and functions have not been as strong as we would have liked to see.
Our Club now has a new Executive Chef on board and I encourage all members to visit our restaurants. I am confident that you will be pleased with the offerings. Similarly, if you are planning a function, please consider our Club as an option as there are many great promotions on offer.
Our Bank continues to be satisfied with our Club’s performance and all Bank covenants have been met.


Thank you to those who attended the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in May 2015. The resolutions relating to Life Membership was passed.


A celebratory lunch for the Life Members elected at the AGM was held in the Celebrity Room on Friday 29 May 2015. This is a great occasion and was warmly appreciated by all attendees. There were many fond memories and experiences shared from their long affiliation with our Club.
The new Life Members were presented with their life member badges and a small gift to commemorate the day. It is a great honour for me to meet all of these wonderful members who have been loyal to our Club for forty (40) continuous years.
On behalf of all members and staff, I congratulate them and thank them for their huge contribution to our Club.


The Committee elections were held in May 2015. I would like to extend my congratulations to Mrs Linda Fitzhardinge for being elected to the position of Vice Chair. I also congratulate the current Committee on being re-elected and Mr Rodrick Faulkner on being elected to the Committee. I thank all the members of the Committee for their commitment and dedication.


The Club is continuing to advance its plans for the proposed new development which your Committee believes will dramatically improve member facilities and secure the long term future of our Club.
To ensure members continue to be well informed about the progress of the proposed development, Member Briefing 14 has been scheduled for the following date:
Member Briefing Meeting 14: Tuesday 18 August 2015 at 6:45pm
It is proposed that another two (2) Briefing Meetings will be presented to members in late September 2015 and October 2015 prior to a member vote.
Certain actions need to be carried out prior, and to allow certainty of these dates, the Club will send emails to members who have provided these details at least twenty eight (28) days prior. Signage will also be posted on the Club noticeboards as well as our website.
If you are not able to attend these meetings, you can access the information on the Club’s website or at the Member Information Display area near the entrance to the Lower Bar.

Double Your Dollar Members Badge Draw Open to ALL City Tattersalls Club Members
A new Double Your Dollar Members Badge Draw will run in August and September where up to $30,000 cash can be won. Draws commence on Thursday 6 August 2015 and Thursday 3 September 2015 at 6.30pm and start at $4,500.
Draws will be held every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 6.30pm
and 7.30pm. Draws Jackpot by $1,000 every week and if won, the Jackpot restarts at $2,000.
The Badge Draw Jackpot must be won on Thursday 27 August 2015 and 24 September 2015 where up to $7,500 cash will be given to one lucky winner at each draw.

Boonoona Ski Club Book

The Ski Club is in the process of publishing a book about the history of the Ski Club and Boonoona Ski Lodge and titled White Ground, A History of City Tattersalls Ski Club, Boonoona.
The book was researched and written by Mr Peter Southwell Keely and I thank Peter for his efforts. I also thank Mr Carl Melvey for his substantial work in making this publication happen. It will be available for purchase by members shortly. Further details about how to buy the book will be advised later.

Race Day

On Saturday 17 October 2015, the City Tattersall’s Club is scheduled to hold its annual Race Day at Randwick Race Course.
CTC will once again work closely with the Australian Turf Club (ATC) and it is pleasing to announce that CTC will own the entire race day (8 races) in 2015. CTC will have naming rights for the CTC Club Cup, CTC Lightning Handicap and CTC Handicap and will on-sell the remaining five (5) races to key suppliers to the Club.
As in 2014, the Club intends to invite an additional 100 Gold or Life members and partners to a cocktail party in the grandstand. This was a great occasion in 2014 and will be an equally great occasion in 2015.
Any Gold or Life members wishing to attend the function, please visit the Club’s website from 1 September 2015 to 25 September 2015 to register your name and member number. If the total member registrations exceed the maximum available places, a lottery style draw will take place.
Unfortunately, we must restrict the invitation to two (2) tickets per Gold or Life member, a ticket for the member and one (1) guest.
If you miss out on the cocktail party, General Admission and Member tickets to the ATC for the day will be available. These will also be restricted to two (2) tickets per Gold or Life member. I encourage Gold and Life members to register your interest in attending what should be a great day at the track!

Club Grants 2015

In the last few months, I have been involved with allocating our Club’s charitable donations to the many applicants for funds under the NSW Club Grants Scheme. Our Club will donate a total amount of $370,000 (approximate), with $277,000 (approximate) of this amount being distributed through the Local Committee.
The presentation to the successful charities will take place at our Club at 11:00am on Tuesday 25 August 2015. All members are welcome to attend.
Further particulars of the donations with the final amounts and charities will be advised in the next magazine.

Staff Benefits

The Staff Rewards and Recognition Program will occur in August 2015 with an Afternoon Tea, Luncheon and Dinner being held for the 3+ Year, 5+ Year and 10+ Year groups. We commend these employees for their loyalty to our Club.
