Patrick Campion, Chairman’s Message November 2016

TRADING UPDATE

The first half of the year’s trading has been solid, especially in the Food and Beverage areas which are both up on last year. I thank members for your patronage of our Club that has allowed this improvement and I ask you to continue your efforts as we move toward the end of the year. Our Club offers some great venues for your end of year functions and parties.
There was also an excellent snow season this year which has enabled Boonoona Ski Lodge to achieve its best revenue result since 2008. A job well done by Club staff and the Boonoona Ski Lodge managers.
All Bank covenants continue to be met.

Airspace Development Update

The Club’s Developer (ICD SB Pitt Street Pty Ltd) is still going through a Section 34 conciliation conference with the City of Sydney Council under the Land and Environment Court Act. The conciliation conference process requires these conferences to be confidential and therefore the Developer is unable to disclose any information at this point in time.
I will inform all members as soon as the conciliation conference process is over. I would expect to be able to advise further in the coming weeks.

“E-PUSH”

In the last few editions of the Club magazine as well as via Advice Notices to Members, I advised of the Club’s decision not to send hard copy magazines from 1 November 2016. This decision was in large brought about by the disproportionate costs associated with the postage of the magazine (being in excess of $16,500).
For those members who have not provided the Club with an email address, I advise that the magazine and any future communications will be available:
a. To read or download from the Club’s website;
b. For collection at the Customer Service desk.
I continue to encourage all members who have not yet provided an email address to the Club to do so as soon as possible.

CARL MELVEY

It is with sadness that I advise of the death of one of the Club’s great members, Carl Melvey. Carl died on 21 September 2016. Carl was an active and supportive member of the Club from 1959 to 2016 and the President of City Tatts Ski Club from 1980 to 2016.
Carl’s passing is an enormous loss to our Club and he will be sorely missed.

RULE CHANGES

Recent changes to the Registered Clubs Act makes it necessary for all Club Committees to limit the number of Committee Members to a maximum of nine (9).
It is proposed that the Club will shortly reduce its Committee Members to nine (9) and to amend our Club Rules accordingly.
At the same time, it is proposed that a number of other changes be made to the Club Rules and I will advise members further in that regard in the near future.

BILL HURLEY

Mr Hurley, after twenty (20) years on the Club’s Committee, has decided to step down.
Mr Hurley commenced on the Committee in 1993 and throughout this time has seen and been involved with many changes to our Club. Mr Hurley has been a valued Committee Member whose insights and business acumen have been important and will be missed.
The Committee and I thank Mr Hurley for all his contributions and wish him all the very best for the future.

NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER SEARCH

The search for a new Chief Executive Officer of our Club is now in full swing and it is expected that an appointment will be made before the end of the year.

NEW PROMOTIONS

There are a number of new promotions in all areas of the Club. I encourage members to visit the Club and enjoy the many promotions being featured throughout the Gaming and Food and Beverage areas.
For additional information of all the fabulous promotions, please refer to the relevant sections of the magazine.

LIVE MUSIC

The live music continues to be provided in the Lower Bar and Omega Lounge.
Attendance in the Lower Bar from Thursday – Friday evenings continues to grow with the feedback from members very positive.
Omega Lounge continues to offer live entertainment every Friday evening from 6:30pm with “Happy Hour” drinks on offer each Thursday and Friday evenings from 6-8pm.
I encourage you to come in and experience some great free entertainment at our Club.

BOONOONA SKI LODGE BOOKINGS

I am pleased to advise that, once again, from 1 – 15 February 2017, all City Tattersalls Club Gold or Life members will be given an advantage of an early booking period at our Boonoona Ski Lodge.
I urge members to take advantage of this exclusive booking period and be the first to book your 2017 ski holiday early to ensure you acquire the dates you require and have a great time during the 2017 ski season.

2016 MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS

As you will be aware, the renewal period is upon us.
As a valued Gold, Silver or Life Member you should renew before 30 November 2016 to receive a $25.00 dining voucher to use in either the Esperanto Dining Room or Zest Restaurant. Social Members are welcome to and are encouraged to upgrade to Gold membership to receive this offer. Conditions apply.

CITY TATTERSALLS CLUB – RACE DAY

On Saturday, 15 October 2016, City Tattersalls Club held its annual Race Day at Randwick Race Course. A large number of members attended. A wonderful time was had by all. To the Gold or Life members who missed
out in the random draw, please don’t be discouraged. Try again next year. It is the best day at the races you will experience.

CLUB GRANTS

The Club Grants presentation was held on Tuesday 30 August 2016. This year there were 41 successful charities receiving a total of $360,906 with City Tattersalls Club donating $271,867 through the Local Committee and a further $89,039 donated through the Club’s Committee.

CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR

I take this opportunity to wish all members a wonderful Christmas for 2016 and good health and prosperity in 2017.
